Pete,

I really don't think you're going to find a suitable place belowdeck for 
propane.  Remember, the drain of the propane locker has to be strictly 
downhill, and above the waterline, at all angles of heel.

A friend managed to turn the lazarette of an Alberg 35 into a propane 
locker for two 5-pound tanks, but it was very tight geometry and it 
meant he lost the entire locker.

I think your best bet is a deck-mounted box.
