[Public-list] shaft length

We have 3 boat yards, one just across the creek from our yacht club,
which is the one I am "getting the shaft" from and 2 just across the bay
(10 miles). They are all robbers and all do shoddy work. Not one of
them wants to raise the bar in any way. And now, after Katrina, they
are price gouging at an unreal amount. I am probably going to have to
sell Timbuktu or go broke doing the repairs. If anyone is interested I
am asking $5,000. If this seems too much, make me an offer. I'm fairly
sure that someone who knew what they were doing could repair her for
about $2,000. Most of the damage is cosmetic. I have the teak cap rail
cut out and ready to be put on. There is some hull to deck joint
fiberglassing to be done and a couple of stations went through the deck,
but that's about it. Have just installed a rebuilt 30hp A4. Comes with
new westerbeke HVAC, new holding tank, Autohelm (wheel, not tiller
driven), bottom job (summer 2005, though some was knock off on pilings
during hurricane), new cushions 2003. My brother and I are looking at a
San Juan 28 (hanging my head in shame). We are thinking it would make
more sense to own one boat instead of two. His hunter was totalled in
the storm. Anyone had any experience on San Juan 28's?
