Tom,
I have just finished painting the interior of my cabin. I had the oozing
blister problem, and when I got down to the substrate, I found what someone
had suggested earlier. It seemed that the blisters were generally where the
sides meet the cabin top, and in the corners. It looks like these areas were
faired with a putty like filler that was breaking down, especially in humid
conditions. In one area I easily removed layers of this material with a
putty knife. I replaced the filler with 3M Marine Premium Filler. It is a
two part epoxy filler that was easily sanded
After removing all the paint with paint remover, I sanded down to the
original pink layer and to the fiberglass where the paint was not sound. I
then primed with Kilz Original, www.kilz.com it's a sealer, primer and stain
blocker, and used 2 liters for 4 coats (sanding between coats). I finished
with a semigloss alkyd enamel.
It sure looks beter than it did, I just hope it works
