Chris,

Like Alfredo, I've been to Sandy Hook once and it was mellow as he
stated. If we decide to go up river I suppose the Nyack area would be
nice. They have quite a few boats moored just above the Tappen Zee
Bridge and I spent a night anchored there on my way back from the Sound
one time. 

Another option which is quite nice is the Sand Hole on Long Island
Sound. I don’t have any charts on me right now, I'm in the office, but
it's between Oyster Bay and Huntington if memory serves me well. A very
narrow entrance into a very nice anchorage. Of course that means it can
get crowded at times.

And back to the racing thing just for a moment: I certainly don't mind
participating if that's what the majority prefers.

Sounds like a plan. Although I enjoy racing Ensign23's there are no die
hard racers here, we basicaly like to cruise too. I too think that an
overnighter would be wise. Lets see what the others that have shown
interest have to add.
