[Public-list] Locker installation of fuel tank

  I installed a 45 litre Tempo poly diesel fuel tank in the starboard locker
two years ago.  I do not have any pics handy to show you but the install is
straight forward.   The tank is approximately 24" x 18" and is about 10"
deep.  It doesn't leave much room above but the top is still well below the
seat opening.  I still have a lot of room at the rear of the locker.   I
have a 1" x 3" x 24" support laid flat against the inside of the cockpit
wall (3" side against wall) below the level of the cockpit floor.  It is
bolted through and comes out below the cockpit floor.  I cut a piece of 3/4"
plywood 24" long and straight on three sides.  The fourth side was cut and
bevelled to fit exactly to the angle and curvature of the hull.  The plywood
is screwed into the support piece and epoxied to the hull on the bevel.  In
addition I also supported the undersides of the plywood with 1" x 3" wood
screwed and epoxied to the bottom of the plywood.  This makes a very strong
platform which as endured very heavy weather.  The Tempo tank uses four
clamps to restrain the tank.  Every tank will be different in that regard.
This is more of a carpentry job then mechanical work.  I have a main tank
under the cockpit as well and both fill hoses run to the deck next to each
other.  I have a system of 3 way valves to seamlessly switch tanks on the
run.
