Sounds like you've been talking to a rigger.  The A30 was originally 
rigged with wire looped through the tangs and held with nicropress 
fittings.  Anything you can buy is an upgrade from that.

Yet rigging failures don't seem to happen from the wire.  Mostly it's 
from the chainplates pulling loose, either from the 1/4" bolts or the 
knees failing.  Often a contributing cause is rot from leaky 
chainplates.  Upgrade your chainplat bolts to 5/16" (and not threaded 
full length) and inspect the quality of your knees and their attachment 
to the hull.
