Doesn't that sort of go against my interests as an owner? 
I mean, if there is a movement to keep unwanted, rummage 
sale value, beater boats in the market stream, then the 
value of every boat is reduced. Law of supply and demand, 
and all that.

Speaking for myself, my attachment for Checkmate goes way 
beyond consideration of resale value, but perhaps it is an 
issue that everyone at least needs to be aware of.

It looks to me, the two sides of the issue are 1. (or 
perhaps yin) keep as many Albergs around as possible to 
have a pool of boats for one design racing status or 2. 
(yang) let natural market forces reduce the number of 
boats to owners who can appreciate a beautiful, versatile 
design and maintain the boat as such.

I admit it, I'm inclined to elitism :)
