[Public-list] Fwd: Engine running Problem

Ralph;
    Don't you just love an intermittent problem.
It could be either fuel or ignition but because it will start after enough time for something to cool down, I would look for electrical failure first. Your idea of running it under load until it quits and then immediately look for the problem sounds like a good idea but I would start by pulling the coil wire and hold it close ( 1/4 to 1/2 inch )to the engine block while you crank it over for a second or two. Be sure to hold that with well insulated pliers or else your pacemaker may never be the same again (-: If you have a spare spark plug around, here is a less exciting way to do it. Unplug one of the spark plug leads and shove your spare plug into the boot. Now rest the metal body of the plug against a bare piece of metal on the engine in such a position that you can watch the gap while you crank for a few seconds. If you get a spark, you have a fuel problem - no spark likely means either the coil or the electronic module is breaking down when it gets hot.

Cheers,    Rod
