[Public-list] Insulation Icebox

I sailed from Miami to Panama City last year and had a problem keeping ice
for more than day and a half--
Am looking at return trip but will be away from land more as will have crew
and need to go direct as fast as possible---
Question is whether the insulation at Home Depot is OK --- Iused some on my
girl friends AC and had some dried on the roof so I put it in some water to
see if it wicks up --- Don't want to install a permanent list--  It did a
little but was inconclusive--

Also not sure where to inject in the bulkhead and between icebox and
hull--in order to get below -- am a little concerned about expansion
breaking the ice box shell--

Back to the wicking -- not only weight but smell----------

Any ideas or sources appreciated-
