[Public-list] Cement in bilge

My schooner also had cement in the bilge, for ballast, and because the lye 
was supposed to help preserve the wood.  I had to use a jackhammer to 
uncover ribs and thru-holes to work on them.  Over the course of years, the  
cement begins to crack, flake, and crumble.
