Michael,

I'll be sure to check my tank underneath, especially in any hidden 
areas.  I agree with you (and the instructions) that they should be on 
some kind of stringers for ventilation to the tank.  Hopefully mine is, 
but no way to tell until I dig in there and check.

I agree with you and understand about gasoline fumes.  No heaters on  
my boat until the gas fumes are gone!  I haven't even used my camera 
flash, wondering if it qualified as a spark.  The batteries are 
disconnected.
