Dan,

As a middle alternative between rebuilding yours and purchasing a fully
rebuilt engine, Moyer sells an Atomic 4 short block for $2,645, you
re-use your head, manifold and auxiliary items and bolt them to a
freshly rebuilt block and internals.  You can get your head and manifold
checked, cleaned and machined locally for not a lot of money.  The Moyer
Marine website has a tool for estimating the cost based on what you will
re-use from your existing engine.
