[Public-List] More on move from Gray Marine gas to Yanmar diesel

Hello Michael, et al.

I tried to send this to the list a few days ago, but it didn't seem
to work. Trying again:

Yes. My Gray Marine was removed today.

As to its disposition, I have been inclined to put her up on eBay
(seems like the the place to do it), but I haven't done anything yet.

As to its condition, up until I just hauled it, it worked great,
starting with the first push of the starter button and purring
whenever she was on. That's not to say that there may have been some
nasty think waiting to happen, but there was not even a hint of a
lurking problem. I only took her out because I promised myself that
my next boat (this boat) would be diesel powered (I know there are
pros and cons, but I'd made up my mind...).

I haven't a clue what a used (original) Gray Marine is worth. In any
case, I'd want to sell it "as is" with a notice of Caveat Emptor.
I'm convinced, though, that she's better as a whole than for parts.
But I have no sentimentality that would prohibit anyone doing what
they thought they needed to do.

If enough people say its worth nothing (and here I'm inviting A30
Assn. members to chime in), then I would consider giving the motor
away, but I'm hoping that I can in some way offset the cost of my new
Yanmar by selling her.

If anyone's interesting at looking the engine before I put her up to
"the highest bidder", I'm in Claiborne, MD, not far from St. Michaels
(jcscott at cpsc.com). I keep Wooshkeetaan (Hull #26) on Tilghman Creek.

Regards,

John Scott
