A lot has to do with the overall condition and appearance of the boat too. The last insurance survey I had , the first thing the surveyor said was "Wow, you keep your boat in great shape". The survey amounted to a cursory inspection with a few slight recommendations and a few questions. The whole thing took less than an hour.
