[Public-List] Access to prop shaft packing gland

Greg: I have hull #33 and a former owner cut an access hole in the port bulkhead. By climbing in the locker, and laying down, I can reach everything at the rear of the engine. (so far 911 has not had to remove me from the locker!) It still takes a second person to hold a light or pass tools, but everything is in easy reach. I have made a cover for the access hole which seal's the port locker from the engine compartment. This may not be the best solution, but it came with the boat and is workable. Good luck.

I can't figure out how to get to the gland. How do you do it? I have a
pre-liner boat (#43) repowered with a Yanmar 2GM.
There is a ~6" dia bronze access port in the cockpit sole. Doubt I could
reach from there but even if I could I'm not sure how much can be done one
handed...
