[Public-List] Touch Wood starting last leg of journey home...

Good day Michael, thank you for the very kind words. I am flattered
that you and the rest of my friends on this list are interested in the
progress of TW's return to health.

She got here safe and sound last Saturday night. John Richards, the
yacht transporter, laid her gently on the piece of property my friend
Charles Wenneker, proprietor of Wenneker Woodworks (famous for making
the 300-odd deadeyes I supplied to the productions of Pirates of the
Caribbean II & III) has generously loaned me. I brought Caroline to
see her the next morning; Caroline said quietly "I didn't remember her
being so small... I guess what was so big is what she represents".

Thanks to the generosity of Peter Farquarson of Acme Lumber in
Toronto, I have a garage full of white oak for the 22 ribs I will be
steaming in this winter. When Peter heard that I had found TW again
he told me he guessed I'd need ribs and said he had 'a few sticks left
over' from another project that he'd give me as a gift. A week later
we found a truckload of long, fine hard white oak timbers on the
lawn. I can saw TW's ribs and a lot more from it.

Meanwhile, poor SURPRISE has had her nose broken - and I don't mean
her feelings. A truck delivering a cabin cruiser to the marina
backed into her then fled without confessing. The damage is limited
to her bow pulpit which is a fair way toward a pretzel in
configuration now complete with two deck pads torn right out with
chunks of deck around the bolts. The marina has stepped up and said
that while they will pursue the trucker, I was assured that the damage
would be repaired by spring. They are good people and I suppose if
it had to happen somewhere I am lucky it happened there.
