The older A30s did not have a stuffing box on the rudder shaft, they had a fiberglass tube that connected the inside of the hull to the underside of the cockpit. That is why the older boats suffered from delainationin the cockpit, water would go up the tube and saturate the core of the cockpit. That was changes in the late 300 - early 400 series boats.
