Hi all,
I thought that some of you who have moved their boats over land might enjoy this bit.
The Lorrie Rose is now safely back to her home in Michigan. She was delivered to Master Craft in Detroit in May of 1966.
Back in 2001 I had the trailer mfg and always used my neighbor's GMC Dually truck to move her. This would be the first adventure using my own Ford 250 Diesel. My Ford came with the 12K towing package from the factory. I replaced the towing hitch with a 15K capacity frame hitch and installed air bag suspension front and rear.
I never made a point to tow faster than 45mph and the entire trip was without incident. Planned the route mostly on four lane divided highways so folks could pass easily. The boat and trailer weigh in @ 11,800 pounds and followed very nicely. The air bag suspension stiffened up the Ford and with the trunnion connection/load levelers and friction anti sway device it was like nothing was being towed behind me.....................oh yeah right.
George was kind enough to post some photos....
