[Public-List] diesel tank cleaners

Hi folks,
 
I have a few gallons of 5 year+ diesel fuel in my 11 gallon tank that I plan
to remove.  I can't move the tank but have access to the filler opening that
is only 3" long.  I was thinking of using a small hose shop vac and
disposing of the filter when finished.  Does this sound feasible and any
suggestions as to what I should use to "rinse" out the tank and fuel line;
kerosene?  It is a grey plastic tank (polypropylene?).
 
Any advice would be appreciated?
