I've used one of those under the old cushions, and it still felt very 
hard.  I think plywood is less comfortable than the ground.

Of course, when I was in college, I once tried to eat some of my 
backpacking food at home when funds ran low at the end of the month. 
Couldn't do it.  Perhaps I just need less comfort when backpacking.
