[Public-List] Loose footed mainsail question

Yeh, I just got a quote from North sails, for a new main. They seem to
recommend lose footed to obtain better shape, both on and off the wind.
Should work fine, but if you race your boat, likely won't fit with the one
design rules.
Also am looking at a full batten main, but may shy away for the same reason,
not that I'm likely to be racing.
Don't know where you are, but Lee Sails in Vancouver (and I'm sure
elsewhere) quotes about $600.00 cheaper than North. Many sailors around here
use Lee, and I don't hear any bad reports.
Input from all would be appreciated.
