[Public-List] Bilge pump mounting

Greetings, All,

I still have a functional Whale electric bilge pump from 7 years ago
or so. It's mounted on a short 1/2" board that sits in the bottom of the
bilge, float switch attached. This is aside from a manual pump in the
cockpit which also sucks up from the bilge.

I leave the boat sometimes for 4 weeks and things have been fine. (Yes,
there is a live aboard in the marina keeping an eye out for the boat, too.)

I also have the rainwater leakage, which is, I determined the source of
bilge water as it's fresh and, as noted, in the summer after I sponge out
the bilge, there's no more water accumulation.

I could chase down rain leaks, but don't see a need for that as long as
I visit the boat every few weeks and as long as I have a functional pump.

One more viewpoint on the question--

Regards,
Randy Katz
