Sad news I'm afraid gang. A fine gentleman has upped anchor to new grounds
from which no man returns.

He will be warmly remembered.

IRVINE, Gordon Leonard "Len", passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 16, 2010
in Oakville. Beloved husband of Kaethe Looman-Irvine, loving father of
Maureen and Paul , Rosie and Dan, Karin and Roger and Henny, loving uncle of
Jennifer, Barry, Kim, Terry, David and Susan. Devoted "Grandpadad" of eight
grand children and five great grandchildren.

Len served as a radar technician with the RCAF during WWII. Prior to going
overseas he was a radar instructor at Clinton. Upon Len's return he worked
with the National Research Council developing new radar technologies. From
there he went on to work with Canadian Admiral and then managed a company in
Ireland and finally to Atomic Energy of Canada. In his retirement, Len, as
captain and Kaethe as his admiral, enjoyed many years sailing on their
beloved "Woodwind", and taking Tina, their happy lab, for walks by the lake.
Len's caring nature and good humour will be missed by both friends and
family.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March
23, at St. Judes Anglican Church, Oakville.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lions Foundation of Canada -
Dog Guides.
