[Public-List] Cetol vs west systemRe: Seagrass

On Seagrass, we first used a couple coats of West 207 followed by
System Three's clear gloss urethane paint for UV protection. Easy to
do, it many coats in a day and it all looked great, until water got
under it and lifted on the first freeze in the fall! The good news is
that it wasn't that hard to scrape off with a cabinet scraper. The bad
news is we ended up lifting the toe rails to re-caulk under them which
was a bear of a job. Then 10 coats if regular varnish. Jeff Fongemie


In hindsight I wonder if the epoxy/urethane would have worked better a
second time with the toe rails sealed well from underneath. I suspect
it would have, but preferred to go with something more easily
repairable.
