[Public-List] Waste holding tanks

When we got SURPRISE she had a porta potti for a head and a perplexing 'foot
bath' under the main cabin floorboards.

Someone on this list clued me in to the fact that the foot bath was actually
the holding tank option offered in liner boats. Way back then the company
that made the plastic tops for the tanks was still in business, and happily
still had the pattern. I bought one and installed it. We've been very
happy with the tank but for the fact that nothing seems to stick to the
unearthly substance the top is made of. I've lost track of who I bought it
from so I can't ask them.

Kris - do you know much about that stuff and what I should be using to bed
it?

Anyway, we've found that Lifecaulk, a product I normally am not so fond of,
comes closest to sticking and we find we get about three seasons before the
tank starts to leak when the boat is heeled. Strangely enough, even when it
is leaking, the tank never smells.... Long may that run!
