Coils fail a lot - they are cheap and easy to replace. It is a good idea to
have a spare coil on board at all times.

Subject: [Public-List] no Ignition?

We launched Kilwinning #446 on the weekend an when I tried to start the
engine it just turned over and didn't fire. We were out of the country for
the last 3 summers so something has changed? I can't get a spark from the
plugs or directly from the coil.
I cleaned the distributer cap and replaced the condensor. I am afraid of
playing with the points. The points look Ok to me? I have 13+ voltage to
the coil and points.
My guess is that the coil is defective? Does that make any sense?? I am
trying to get a mechanic but they all seem to be independedly wealthy and I
am anxious to start sailing!
