I now just use inexpensive Group 27 deep cycle batteries with the stock 
regulator and a shore-power charger from Bass Pro Shops.  If you use a 
shore-power charger, be sure it's isolated from the AC input (including 
ground) or you're likely to eat up underwater metal components rather 
fast.  In general, non-marine chargers do not have the battery negative 
isolated from the AC ground.
