HI
I know it is not customary to answer your own question, but in reading a number of sites on using the asymmetrical sail on the internet today, I found that it is common for the downhaul attached to the tack of the asymmetrical spinnaker to run to a block behind the forestay and back to the cockpit so the height of the tack can be adjusted according to how close one is sailing to the wind. This is how the sail was tacked in previous years. but we did have some foul ups... because the sheets were not properly lead. I have the latter issue straightened out now, but still have a question about the tack/downhaul line for this sail.
Here is my question. When the asymmetrical sail is gybed and the sail is "turned inside out," can the tack downhaul become wrapped around furled head sail? It is hard for me to visualize just where the tack/downhaul like goes during the gybe. Right now my guess is that no one raises this issue as a concern, it can not happen So, am I concerned about a non-problem or is my premonition of disaster well founded?
Any thoughts?
David

I would like to know where the asymmetrical spinnaker is tacked if the foremost opening in the stemhead is used by the forestay?
Thanks for your thoughts on this question.
