[Public-List] Muffler Design

George, et al,

Has anyone encountered significant corrosion issues with the old bronze
standpipe exhaust muffler in saline conditions ?

If I am not mistaken, would not going to an SS design (unless made of 316
SS) encounter worse corrosion issues as, if I am not mistaken, the warm salt
water going through enhances corrosion of SS below 316 grade.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Many thanks

John - PS. Sunstone, our A-37 uses the same design muffler on a Westerbeke
4-107. Ours still functions quite well.
