[Public-List] Where to run wires from the mast into the boat

I use a blue sea cable clam - the clam part stays with the mast over the winter. You drill a set of holes through a center puck and the center part is squeezed. It is fairly close to leak free - I think if I redid the holes and used circular wires (single-plex rather than duplex) it would be completely leak free. As it is, in really hard rain, I get a few drops in occasionally, but not an entire puddle's worth the way I used to.
Bill.

I wish my wires ran through a hole in the mast step; I've got a pair of
deck fittings on either side of the mast that have done a fantastic job
of resisting my efforts to keep them from leaking in the rain.
