Thank you very much. That return line idea is great!

Richard,
Quest #433 has the prior group purchase fuel tank installed on the starboard
cockpit locker shelf. As others have mentioned, the top of this tank fits
very close to the underside of the deck, leaving a tight fit (probably
about 2") for the fill, vent, and fuel lines. It works, but it's tight.
Regarding the return line, I don't know about larger diesels, but on my
little BMW D-12 diesel the return line does not go back to the tank but
rather connects into a T fitting six inches upstream from the Racor fuel
filter. This arrangement works fine for my installation. This arrangement
might save you the need for another tank connection.

Thanks.
I hate to say it but you must be thinking of someone else, maybe by the same
name. No aquarium in my past.
I re measured the space over the shelf in the cockpit locker but am now not
sure if the Moeller 032718 will work. There's only about 2" clearance for
height and it may be impossible to attach the fill and fuel lines etc. Also
she has a diesel so would need a return line.
438 is a liner boat, maybe some one can advise. It could be possible by
connecting the lines prior to installing the tank?

Hi Rick,
I'll keep you posted on our progress. How are things at the aquarium these
days? I certainly enjoyed the tour from you several years ago.

All the chatter about fuel tanks reminds me that I'm not all that happy with
the arrangement that I inherited, though it works well enough, I suppose,
while I'm still running the Atomic Four.
I do, however, have a Universal diesel on the bench that I'm rebuilding.
I'll need to replace the tank when I install it, so I'm listening closely to
your progression and would be interested in participating in a group
purchase if the selected model is compatible with a non-liner boat.
