There is a book on the shelves now by Laura Hillenbrand (Seabiscuit) titled Unbroken: A World War II Airman's Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption about several men in the US Army Air Forces who are adrift in the Pacific for weeks. Things such as an incomplete survival pack and air and water leaks are just a part.
