[Public-List] Reefing line question

Hello Glenn,

I tried it in TOUCH WOOD's mainsail (she's my wooden Folkboat).

The system worked, basically, but I was not able to achieve the hard tension
across the new foot of the main that is key to effective reefing. We
decided it was more bother trying to get enough tension to flatten the sail,
than to just use a separate line for the luff.

All of which reminds me of a Hungarian friend I used to sit near at board
meetings. If discussion was trending toward options that complicated a
procedure while trying to simplify it, he'd glance at me and scratch his
left ear with his right hand, reaching over his head. The gesture was
meant to indicate that the easy way to scratch one's left ear, was with the
left hand. The right hand works, but doesn't make it easier. Brilliant.
