[Public-List] Topping lifts

My 1967 pre-liner boat has a topping lift that attaches to the end of the 
boom, goes up over a hanging block at the top of the mast, then comes back 
down to a cleat at the base of the mast.  This means one needs to be 
standing at the mast to adjust it.  I was thinking of changing the boom end 
so that there is a block on the end of the line coming down from the top of 
the mast, with a line from the end of the boom up over the block, and back 
down to a cleat on the end of the boom.  This would give me some mechanical 
advantage, allow me to adjust the boom from the cockpit, and is a common set 
up on other boats.  Has anyone else used this set up?  Anything to look out 
for?  Thanks!
