[Public-List] Wires into the boat

Hello Jeff,
I prefer the Blue Sea Systems clams
<http://www.bluesea.com/products/category/Clam> and I have one on each side
of the mast. I used the sizes large enough to put all the connectors inside
the boat just forward of the mast beam in the v-berth. The self-amalgamating
tape helps make a round bundle of the multiple wires on one side and the
flat duplex goes through an oval hole on the other. I didn't freeze the
rubber, although that sounds like a good trick. I did use bi-spur bits
instead of twist bits for a nice clean hole and then made a slit to the hole
with a scalpel to make installing the wire easier. I squirt a little
silicone on the top to help stop any minor leaks. BTW I used far fewer than
100 cable ties on the bundle inside the mast. I put one every 12-16" and
just spiraled them around once every three ties. Blessed silence after two
years of listening to them slap at anchor.
