Sounds to me like the vintage capstan and 200 feet of chain would solve
the stern squat problem that dominated discussion recently!

The manual windlass sounds pretty awesome. Did you happen to take
pictures?

Subject: [Public-List] Anchor windlass question

So I discovered three used anchor winches at the local used boat gear
shop today, one a superb, old (maybe a 1930's vintage) cast bronze
manually operated, two speed, horizontal capstan and rope pulley affair
with a rounded dome like profile and no brand casting, and two newish
12v SS electric jobs with a low profile gypsy, with skinny little 12v
motors. All for around $375 each, more or less. So of course I now
have a new spring project! Find and install a windlass and go buy 200'
of 5/16 BBB chain. I am partial to the old bronze windless BTW, but
have no idea what capacity it offers.

Assuming I don't go off and buy an A37, What in the world should I look
for in terms of size and pulling capacity for an A30 windless?

Thanks much,

Glenn
