Having wintered in the Chesapeake and from Hamilton ON....understand your concerns. Its mainly a perceived environmental issue as the pink stuff in non toxic. Now that TO winters are mild in comparison to years ago, there is nothing wrong IMHO with using the pink stuff. Just follow Don's instructions and when your good to go in the spring......you have the option of dumping the stuff in a pale or right out the exhaust into the Lake. Just Google the differences in terms of toxicity between the two products.

A good practice is to acid wash the engine with white vinegar, acetic acid, prior to putting in the anti freeze. Just let the engine suck it up, let it sit overnight, and pump it out the next day in a bucket. Then add the antifreeze. Its a very mild acid wash. 

Moyer's manual explains the procedure and ratio of water to vinegar and how to remove the thermostats given engine version, older or newer. Worth every penny that manual.
