Good morning Gordon -

I forget what hull number BRIGADOON II is; SURPRISE is 426.  Her bow chocks
and several others I've seen on apres-400 A30s had their bow chocks mounted
in the centre of the flat top of the bow castings... Which I guess made
sense to the guy mounting them but forced the mooring lines to press on the
rather acute edge of the casting on their way outboard.

I'd planned to fit metal plates with a curved shape to protect the lines
from the edge but when I sat down to fit them discovered that there's plenty
of 'meat' in the casting to simply move the chocks out a bit so that their
outer edge is right on the edge of the bow casting.   I drilled new holes,
tapped them to accept the mounting bolts and the problem was solved.

Astern, I fitted larger bronze chocks as part of the slow 'bronzification'
and 'woodification' of SURPRISE's gear.
