[Public-List] Repower, rebuild or sell

Brian,
I currently have a 1965 Grey Marine engine that I believe all that is wrong with it is the carburetor fouled up, but not 100% certain.  I am quite confident the block is fine so between the two you may be able to rebuild a decent engine and have spare parts.  It has been stored inside heated building for last couple of years.  If you wanted the engine and you are welcome to it.  Biggest issue is I am in Detroit area, not sure of your location.

It might be time well spent to google craigslist for used marine engines for a few days.  I've seen both a rebuilt atomic 4 and several used but running small marine diesels for sale (cheap) around the Seattle  area over the last few months.  If the price is right and the equipment runs OK, you could afford to ship a used or rebuilt engine from anywhere in the country back to your location more economically than buying new, probably for less than $400 freight cost.

BTW, don't be put off by the work involved in changing engine mounts. I redid mine to correct some alignment issues this fall. IT was no big deal. Took less than 3 hours to glass in new beds and bolt back up the existing engine mounts.
