Another thing you may be able to do, depending on the luff length of your 
jib, is add a short pendant to the tack.  This has the same effect on sail 
shape as moving the car forward.  The down side is that the center of effort 
moves up & back, meaning more heeling & more weather helm.  Usually not 
enough to be a problem though & if your sail is in decent shape otherwise...
