As an ex auto mechanic I will say that points will almost always get you
home. With Maintaince the failure rate is low to noon existent. Even with
cars using Lucas distributors I was always able to get home.
Electronics when they fail you need to have a spare.
It is a lot cheaper to keep a spare street of points and condenser than to
keep a spare electronic module.
Checking point gap and or replacing them when needed in the spring will
most likely keep you going all summer.
