Hi,
I had the same issue. There must have also been a leak in the icebox where it joins the bulkhead that contains the icebox door and the aft end of the port bunk. It had started to rot just under the icebox door. I sealed the lid closed with silicone. This will let a future owner change it back if desired. It no longer leaks and the rot has dried and will be replaced/repaired
