I moved the jib sheet winches aft and bought new for the jib some years ago. 
Boat show prices allowed me to get a pair of Andersen  40STs and they have 
been great, especially with women on the winch handle. There is very little 
wear on the sheets with the ridged barrels compared to other systems. The 
40:1 allows for almost anyone to trim the sail of any size with ease. So 
when you price winches, also consider sheet replacement in the long term 
costs. I am on my second set of sheets in 20 years with about 600 miles 
sailed a year and we do race that boat in one design races. There is no 
appreciable wear on the current set of sheets so I think I can get at least 
5 more years on them. I have been told that with other really rough barrels, 
2 years is the max for sheets.
