Gordon — If you can’t turn 2000 rpm in gear, then you have the wrong prop or it is badly fouled with marine growth. At 1200 one develops only about 8 brake horsepower as opposed to 20 at 2000. That will hurt in bad weather. Also, if the engine is in tune and alignment, then it will be smooth and quiet at all speeds.
