Hello Joe, 

I can’t speak directly to the effect on a diesel, but having had both the standard factory supplied two blade prop in Surprise for her A4 engine, and for the past few years a Campbell Sailor three blade, I’ll suggest that you’ll have more noise and vibration with the two blade prop, and less power and control in reverse.

Top end speed depends completely on what pitch and diameter you choose.
