Here’s late breaking news… Aircraft Spruce & Specialty Co. of Bradford Ontario has a wide variety of mechanical tachometer cables in various lengths, configurations and left and right lay as required.
Here’s their website… if you put ’tachometer cable’ into the search field, you’ll see the collection. It looks like the 10-16100 37” cable is just what’s required. The big question is the compatibility of the nuts on the ends. It appears they may fit.
After chatting with an aircraft mechanic who is one of their clients and is familiar with marine engines (he said the historic aircraft he works on often have marine fittings on their engines) we settled on one particular cable which is on its way to me now. I’ll have it tomorrow.
If this cable doesn’t fit, well then I’ll be sending away my old cable to have a new drive cable put into it.
Stand by for developments…

I’m in discussion with them now about either closing one of the tach cables they supply, or perhaps making a new one for me to match the specs of the Atomic IV engine’s aux drive socket and the corresponding receiver on the back of the tachometer.
