[Public-List] Spinnaker pole length

Good afternoon,
I just purchased a used but very nice 2.5 inch aluminum spinnaker pole for 441. It is 11.8 ft long. I plan on cutting it down to the legal length but am confused as to some of the postings related to this topic. Some say the length should be the J measurement of 10.5 ft. Other postings say it should be 10.9ft or the “maximum" J measurement as stated in the bylaws. Can someone clarify this discrepancy?
