The only thing I can add to " So There We Were....." , we saw you romping home on the starboard reach and want you to know that you enjoyed the sweet spot in the day's wind. It was weak in the morning and faded away not long after you made it to the club. We were waiting for company to arrive and missed it all.
Sailing off the anchor is one of my guilty pleasures also - especially if you get to observe the startled looks from the cockpits you drift silently past. Methodist Bay is often perfect for that. Once, having waited most of the day for some wind to sail home on, I couldn't resist the temptation and after preparing sails and lines it was time to weigh-anchor but I couldn't bear disturbing the peace by starting the engine. The only boat down wind of me was far enough to one side that I was sure I would drift clear of them, so hauled in the rode which got PERSEVERANCE gliding in the right direction.
By the time I had the anchor stowed I was just clearing the other boat and it was time for the coup-de-grace. I hauled up the sock and the asymmetrical filled beautifully and I decorated their vuew of the bay for the next four miles.

Cheers, Rod
