Hello gang, 

Way back in ’99 when I bought SURPRISE  #426, one of the things on the refit list was rewiring her.   The switch panel had the usual idiotic mislabeling.    To switch on the Steaming light, one threw the Windshield Wiper switch, and so on.  I marvelled that the previous owner had put up with that for 29 years.  

Well I put up with it for 24 years. 

Until this year, that is.   Beginning last week I had a professional marine electrician rip out all the old crappy wiring, and replace it with new wiring of the correct colours and gauge.  New switches, new wire, everything.

The one thing I kept was the old switch panel, mostly because I like the way the old 1960’s black panel looks.  So at the moment, with the wiring job done, the last three switches are still idiotic, but that’s going to change as soon as I can get labels that read:

Steaming Light

GPS / VHF  

Knotmeter

I hope it doesn’t take decades...
