[Public-List] impeller

David,

I do have a deck plate on my cockpit sole. I did not install it; it must
have been installed by a PO. It is fairly robust, made of bronze and when
the plate is unscrewed it does allow better access to the shaft, stuffing
box, etc. I have a yanmar 2gm so impeller access is not an issue.

It is located about a foot aft of the bridge deck and centered. I did
manage to find one photo of the cockpit sole and will forward it to you.

I am not a fan of drilling holes in boats and certainly understand folks’
reluctance and hesitation. Whoever put it in must have done a pretty good
job as I have not noticed any cockpit sole weakness nor water intrusion.

Good luck with whatever you decide

Woody
